Lexington, Kentucky is the second largest city in Kentucky with a population of over 301,569 in the 2011 Census. Lexington is located in Fayette County and is widely known as the “Horse Capital of the World”. Fayette County, named after Marquis de Lafayette, is actually part of one of the three original counties made from Kentucky County, Virginia.
